During guidance lessons this week, students are learning to use a word or phrase to help stop big emotions from taking control. This allows students to start calming down and using their "thinking part" of their brains. Once the stop word or phrase is used the next step is to name their feelings. Learning and practicing these two steps are very important in learning to regulate emotions which is important both socially and academically.

Luling Primary and Shanklin Elementary students continue to work on earning the No Place for Hate designation this school year! Luling Primary is working on creating a Tree of Respect that is made out of hand cutouts with student drawings about respect. Shanklin Elementary will be working on Peace Paths. A Peace Path is a conflict resolution tool that helps students come up with solutions by using problem-solving principles.

All students and staff will continue following our current safety protocols, including the requirement to wear masks, until further notice. Updates will be shared as decisions are made.
